LEADERS

The Group has a dedicated team of volunteer leaders, helpers and instructors, with many years of experience and ideas. We are always looking for new instructors, helpers, section assistants and leaders to join the team. Not all posts require training and where it is needed the Group and the Scout Association provide all of the neccessary training. If you are interested in coming along and helping please contact your Section Leader or the Group Scout Leader.

COMMITTEE

The Group Executive Committee supports the Group Scout Leader and ensures the effective administration of the Scout Group. The Committee aims to make sure that the Scout Group has facilities and resources needed to deliver good Scouting in the Group. This includes:

  • The maintenance of the Group’s property and equipment
  • The raising of funds and the administration of the Group finances
  • The insurance of persons, property and equipment
  • Group public occasions
  • Assisting with the recruitment of Leaders and other adult support

The Committee meets once a month except for during the school holidays.

VOLUNTEERS

We are always looking for people to help within the Group. It is appreciated that being a leader is not for everyone, but could you do any of the following?

Committee – Join the Committee for a year, and help with the running of the Group and its fundraising. The Group tends to do 3 or 4 big fundraisers a year and many hands reduce the efforts.

Instructor – Do you have a specific qualification that could help children and young adults develop, such as canoeing, sailing, abseiling, or rock climbing, and would volunteer your time on a rota that is flexible to your availability?

Could you teach a skill which would allow members of the group to gain a proficiency badge, such as athlete, mechanic, cook, first aid etc?
